The William Morris Agency announced Thursday that it has signed film director Phil Joanou, who was previously repped by Creative Artists Agency.

Filmmaker Joanou’s credits include the Sean Penn starrer “State of Grace,””U2 Rattle and Hum,””Three O’Clock High” and the documentary project “Age 7 in America.”

His most recent release was the Richard Gere/Kim Basinger thriller “Final Analysis,” which was distributed by Warner Bros. more than a year ago. WMA is currently positioning the director for his next feature project.

Motion picture department co-head Mike Simpson heads the Joanou team at WMA.

Currently, Joanou’s is in post-production on a segment for Showtime’s “Fallen Angels” film noir series, which was written by Scott Frank and stars Gary Oldham , Gabrielle Anwar and Meg Tilly. The “Fallen Angels” series is produced by Sydney Pollack’s Mirage Prods.

As previously reported, “Geronimo” helmer Walter Hill inked with agency motion picture head Arnold Rifkin, executive veepee Leonard Hirshan and motion picture department co-head John Burnham.
