Peter Press, Viacom Intl.’s longtime London-based managing director/VP sales in the U.K. and Europe, has ankled abruptly.
His departure was disclosed in an internal memo from Raul Lefcovich, Viacom Intl. president of international sales.
The memo said Press left because of a restructuring effective Nov. 15. The company has made no public announcement.
Insiders say Press’ position was eliminated, which appears an odd move since Viacom has been trumpeting the success of its overseas sales unit during its attempts to consummate the merger with Paramount.
Press, who had held the London post since 1987, and before that ran Viacom’s sales operations in Australia and Asia Pacific, would not comment.
