Lucas F/X plugs OMF technology

Lucasfilm Ltd. and Lucas Digital Ltd. announced they are now official sponsors of the Open Media Framework Interchange, solidifying their previously announced plans to develop all-digital post-production environments within their facilities.

OMF Interchange is a standard file format.

It encapsulates all the info required to transport digital media between platforms and applications, as well as the rules for combining and presenting the data.

The goal is to provide an improved creative environment for end-users involved with the digital media productions. It’s also hoped this will free users from existing platform and application limitations, hindering the exchange of project information between digital audio, video, film, animation and graphics applications.
