Grundy Worldwide, the global production arm of Reg Grundy’s worldwide production/distribution operation, has made a further inroad into the burgeoning Southeast Asian market with the opening of a Singapore office.
Ian Bradley, who was appointed GW’s president of drama effective July 1, told Daily Variety that the Singapore office will serve as a “hub” for series, gameshows and light entertainment production to come out of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japanese production will remain separate from the Singapore operation, which will be called Reg Grundy Prods. It’s the 17th such office to open, and consistent with Grundy’s philosophy of “parochial internationalism,” it’ll incorporate local talent and exex.
Bradley says the operation will be working with Singapore-based partners, who will be revealed within the next few weeks.
Move follows other forays into Asia, including acting as co-production partner with NHK in Japan on kids series “Mission Top Secret,” and the multimillion-dollar sale of a programming package to Star TV in Hong Kong.
