Fox Inc. says the majority of Los Angeles residents support its expansion and renovation plans– including those living in areas adjacent to the Century City-based studio.
Fox, continuing its public relations war in support of the studio’s expansion goals, based its assertion on a telephone poll conducted by research firm Fairbank, Maulin & Associates, which found that more than 70% of randomly surveyed residents support the proposed Fox project.
According to the survey, support was lowest in Beverly Hills (67%) and within a one-mile radius of the studio (70%) but was still favored by a wide margin in all City Council districts polled.
Homeowners groups that oppose Fox’s expansion plans on the grounds that it will increase traffic congestion in the area couldn’t be reached for comment.
A public forum regarding the proposed $ 200-million, 771,000-square-foot facility expansion and renovation was held Jan. 11 by the L.A. Planning Commission, with another hearing on the matter to be held next month.
