Fox hit with racial bias suit

Lawyer Zna Portlock has sued Fox Inc. for allegedly firing her in retaliation for seeking “racial fairness.”

Portlock, who was counsel for labor relations for Fox, said in a complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court that she was the only black lawyer in her department and that she was paid less than her white predecessors and other white professionals in the department.

Portlock also was denied promotions and benefits because of her race, the suit said.

Suit claims Fox labor relations VP Pamela DiGiovanni “repeatedly made racist and demeaning comments to plaintiff about black people, black communities and black organizations.”

Last January, Portlock was told she was being permanently laid off, the complaint said.

The suit seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages. Also named as defendant is Dean S. Ferris, Fox senior VP, employee relations and administration.
