Posting its first earnings since going public in February, Hemdale Communications Inc. recorded a profit of $ 1.2 million (19 cents per share). Revenues were $ 11.3 million.

The company was put into bankruptcy last September. According to the company, a year ago Hemdale reported revenues of $ 1.3 million and an operating loss of $ 300,000. The first quarter figures include the sell-through release of the animated “Little Nemo, Adventures in Slumberland.”

Rentrak Corp. posted a net loss of $ 895,061 (10 cents per share) for the year ended March 31. That compares to a net loss of $ 232,721 (3 cents) in the previous year. Revenues were up 14.5% from last year, to $ 54.3 million. For the fourth quarter, the video distributor posted a net profit of $ 39,706 (0 cents), vs. a net profit of $ 320,162 (3 cents) in the comparable period. Revenues were up 41.8% from the same quarter last year, to $ 17.8 million.
