French pay-TV channel Canal Plus said its consolidated first-half revenues rose 9.5% to 4.259 billion francs ($ 720 million) from the first half of 1992.
Most notably, Canal Plus’ revenues from advertising and promotions, which includes operations from the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris, enjoyed a 23% jump during the period to 274 million francs.
Also its revenues from subscriptions jumped nearly 11% to 3.476 billion francs, representing Canal Plus’ largest source of business.
Canal Plus noted that the net growth in the number of French subscribers was 35,632 for a total of more than 3.6 million subscribers.
Canal Plus also pointed to strong subscription growth abroad. During the half , the number of subscribers in Germany rose by 73%, Spain by 62% and Belgium by 49%. In Africa, subscribers more than quadrupled to 19,510.
