GOOD MORNING: Bill Clinton meets up again with Hollywood’s cultural elite in Orange County today when a busload of thesps greet/entertain him and Democandidates at the Pacific Amphitheater. Jack Lemmon m.c.’s a show starring Linda Ronstadt, Bruce Hornsby, Paula Poundstone–and also skedded is Whoopi Goldberg and the “Sister Act” choir. The busload includes Carrie Fisher, Teri Garr, Buck Henry, Ann-Marie Johnson, Callie Khouri, Christine Lahti, Richard Lewis, Ali MacGraw, Elizabeth Pena, Annie Potts, William Schallert, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Andrew Shue and Courtney Thorne-Smith, Paul Winfield, Young M.C. and Sheryl Lee Ralph … Lemmon has also been audibly present on radio endorsing Gordana Swanson for the County Board of Supervisors. … CAA, led by Michael Ovitz, hosts a $ 10,000-a-plate dinner tonight in the agency’s atrium for the Democratic National Committee. Sens. Bob Kerrey (Neb.) and John Kerry (Mass.) will attend. And yesterday Barbara Boxer was at CAA, meeting with Bill Haber … David Lonner, former head of ICM’s motion picture literary department, joins CAA this week … The tabling of a politically toned “A Different World” seg until after the election has the cast upset, reports co-star Charnele Brown. “I guess we were a little hard on the Republicans,” she said, “but what we really were trying to do is get out the vote. Too bad NBC took it personally. They’ll air it in the spring and it will look a little idiotic.” Brown stars in tonight’s seg directed by co-star Jasmine Guy. “She’s an actor’s director,” volunteers Brown, who has no directorial ambitions. “I want to skip to producing,” She won’t be back when the season’s 12 remaining segs are completed … A White House press conference–on WB’s “Dave” set on Stage 18–got a turnout of 90 scribes anxious to hear remarks from the “first family” played by Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver.

ANGELA LANSBURY AS AN USHERETTE? She phoned producer Barry Brown to volunteer that service when she learned Brown was bringing back the “Company” company for one night (Jan. 23) as a benefit for local AIDS charities and the Long Beach Civic Light Opera. Brown and Lansbury teamed for “Gypsy” in London and B’way. The entire original cast will perform (with the exception of deceased Charles Braswell). They include Dean Jones, Elaine Stritch, Barbara Barrie, Donna McKechnie, plus original dance captain George Martin. Christian Slater directs, his mom, Mary Jo S., produces … Tony Roberts, co-starring as the doctor in “The Seagull” at the National Actors Theater, bowing Nov. 29 with Jon Voight and Tyne Daly, first wings to North Carolina to play a medic in ABC’s telemovie “Breaking the Silence.” Roberts recalls he and Voight worked together on stage 25 years ago in “Take Her She’s Mine”… The Oct. 22 and Nov. 12 performances of Art Metrano in “Twice Blessed” at the Hollywood Playhouse benefit Project Support for Spinal Cord Injury. He suffered that injury in a freak accident in 1989 … Agent John Gaines is very ill and not expected to recover, his longtime friend and adviser-business manager Marvin Freedman sadly tells us, adding, Gaines chose not to be fussed over in his illness … Bonnie Green’s daughter, Kathe, is en route to N.Y. for meets regarding the musical “Philco Blues,” which she co-wrote with Jane Warner. And Bonnie’s stepdaughter, singer-songwriter Babbie, is also flying to N.Y. to perform in the Cabaret Convention. Both will be back to sing at Bonnie’s memorial service Nov. 1, 2 p.m. at Bel Air Presbyterian … On Howard Stern’s Monday radio show, Martha Raye’s husband, Mark Harris. sings “Just a Gigolo.” Stay tuned.

IT’S BEEN 46 YEARS since William Saroyan wrote his “The Parsley Garden” and now his nephew Hank Saroyan has adapted it and directs for an ABC Children’s Weekend Special. Adam Bleibtreu and Faye Nuell Mayo are producing. It’s set in Fresno where the company’s getting full support–some up there have dubbed it “Lawrence of Armenia.” Christopher Miranda (11) plays the lead and Tom Bosley co-stars with (hopefully) Margot Kidder, who is in Florida with the bigscreen “La Florida”… The Wilshire Court banner set Raquel Welch, Alley Mills and Joan Van Ark for its USA Network cable movie “Tainted Blood”… Tom Selleck tapes a 10-part docu, “The Practical Guide to the Universe,” for Pacific Media Assn. to air on the Discovery Channel. He’ll tape on the big island of Hawaii … Ann Miller misses MGM stablemate Debbie Reynolds’ Thalians Ball Oct. 31 as she (Ann) is a sponsor for the I. Magnin fundraiser for the Orpheum Theater renovation in Phoenix that day.
