Telethon taps $ 11 mil for UNCF

Entertainer Lou Rawls helped raise more than $ 11 million for the United Negro College Fund during his 13th annual Christmas weekend telethon.

The seven-hour “Lou Rawls Parade of Stars” Saturday featured Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra and Dionne Warwick and co-hosts Marilyn McCoo, Nancy Wilson and Ed McMahon.

Show, broadcast from Hollywood and N.Y., was syndicated nationally.
