KCBS-TV entertainment reporter Steve Kmetko will leave the O&O at the end of November, station general manager Steve Gigliotti confirmed late yesterday.Kmetko, who prior to becoming an entertainment reporter in July 1987 served as a general assignment reporter at the station for six years, has a separate deal with “CBS This Morning” that reportedly expires at the end of this year. Gigliotti said the station tried to work out a new agreement with Kmetko, but that he would not accept the station’s terms for the renewal of his lucrative contract. Kmetko currently provides soft feature interviews with celebs and movie reviews but news director John Lippman is seeking a reporter who will cover hard news on Hollywood as well, according to Gigliotti. “Steve didn’t feel comfortable in that role,” Gigliotti said. Kmetko couldn’t be reached for comment at press time.
