Post-Newsweek takes Hoffa spec

The Post Newsweek Stations group will produce the one-hour “Hoffa: The True Story” for syndication as a follow up to 20th Century Fox’s $ 42 million Christmas entry, “Hoffa.”

Post-Newsweek’s WDIV in Detroit will produce the spec, which will be distributed worldwide by DCL Media. WDIV investigative news reporter Mike Wendland, who covered Hoffa and organized crime in Detroit for more than two decades, will host.

The special is set to air during a Jan. 11-Feb. 14 window, with the domestic distribution handled on a straight barter basis (six minutes national and six minutes local). Post-Newsweek and Hearst Broadcasting stations have so far cleared the spec, mostly in prime time slots.
