NBC will air a two-hour “Laugh-In’s 25th Anniversary Special” during February , featuring clips and appearances by members of the original cast.
The special will be produced, written and directed by George Schlatter, creator-exec producer of the original “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In,” which premiered on NBC as a special in 1967 and began as a series in January 1968.
The show ran until 1973 and was the top-rated series on TV for two of its five seasons.
“Laugh-In” continues the trend toward such retrospectives, which have included CBS’ various “classic weekend” specials (another is expected for the February sweeps as well) and ABC’s “Happy Days” reunion. NBC is also airing a “Donahue” 25th anniversary show later this month.
Cast regulars who came to prominence during “Laugh-In’s” run include Goldie Hawn, Lily Tomlin, Arte Johnson and Jo Anne Worley. Schlatter also produces the American Comedy Awards and the upcoming American Television Awards, both for ABC.
