KTTV moving ‘Studs’ out of early fringe

Fox-owned KTTV today will downgrade Twentieth TV’s “Studs” from its 6 p.m. early fringe slot to midnight, replacing the relationship show with a second run of “Married … With Children.”

“Married” will air at 6 and 7 p.m., with “The Wonder Years” continuing at 6: 30 and “A Current Affair” at 7:30.

The move of “Studs” to late night in the U.S.’ second-largest TV market during the November sweeps could likely hurt the show’s national ratings. When it aired at 11 p.m. on KTTV earlier this year, the program received lackluster numbers.

At 6 p.m., “Studs” was down significantly last month from its October ’91 average.

The program earned a last-place 3.5 rating/7 share in Arbitron and a 3.8/7 in Nielsen, which compared to its year-ago mark (when it aired at 6:30 p.m.) of a 6 .5/12 in Arbitron and a 5.7/10 in Nielsen.

“The Wonder Years” gained significantly from its lead-in, rising to a 6.5/12 in Arbitron and a 5.7/10 in Nielsen.

With the shift of “Studs,” the station will move “Perry Mason” back a half-hour to 12:30 a.m.
