In a series of programming moves, KCBS-TV acted yesterday to shore up weak spots in its early fringe and access schedule.

The O&O will scrap the poorly performing “Wiseguy” from the 3-4 p.m. block on Jan. 4 and insert “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.”

It will compete against the powerhouse “Oprah Winfrey Show” on KABC-TV.

KCBS plans to add “Real Stories of the Highway Patrol” on March 15 at 7 p.m. During a two-week test run that wraps today, “Patrol” has averaged a 6.6 rating/ 11 share in Nielsen at 7 p.m..

“You Bet Your Life” currently airs in the time period, but the show performed poorly in both household and demographic ratings during the November sweeps.

A station spokeswoman said KCBS has not determined what will follow “Patrol” at 7:30 p.m. “Family Feud” currently airs in the slot.

KCBS has also added the new weekly reality strip “Firefighters” to its Sunday sked, with the series slated to premiere at 5 p.m. Jan. 17.
