The second episode of ABC’s “The Jackie Thomas Show” slipped marginally in its hold on “Roseanne’s” coattails, according to Nielsen figures for Tuesday.

The Roseanne and Tom Arnold-produced sitcom drew a 14.7 rating, 23 share, falling 14% off its lead-in from “Roseanne” (17.1/26), which was a repeat.

“Jackie” maintained 90% of its lead-in when it premiered last week with a 21/32, benefiting from a heftier lead-in thanks to an original “Roseanne.”

ABC will air a new “Roseanne” next week but will air repeats through the balance of December, anticipating lower viewing levels due to the holidays. Network sources stress that they’ll monitor “Jackie” over those weeks based more on lead-in retention than its absolute rating.

Aside from “Jackie,” ABC went with all repeats and CBS crunched it with the movie “A Killer Among Friends” (16.7/27). Despite the military action in Somalia , NBC’s news mag “Dateline” posted only a 9.1/15, though cable web CNN did enjoy a surge over its usual prime time average.
