Robert Blake will star in “The John List Story,” a CBS movie from Republic Pictures Prods., marking the actor’s first role in seven years following what was described as a self-imposed hiatus.

Blake will play the real-life title character, who provided the inspiration for “The Stepfather” movie series.

List was finally caught 18 years after the murder of his family, after being profiled on “America’s Most Wanted.”

Perhaps best known for starring in the ABC drama “Baretta” from 1975-78, Blake was last seen in the NBC series “Helltown,” which ran for only a few months in 1985. Other credits include pix “In Cold Blood,” and “Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here.” He appeared in the late Hal Roach’s “Our Gang” films.

“The John List Story” will begin production in Vancouver later this month, with Bobby Roth directing from a script by Dennis Turner.
