ATAS names committee chairmen

Academy of Television Arts & Sciences president Leo Chaloukian has named 32 chairmen to serve one-year terms on various Academy committees.

The appointees, several repeating responsibilities, are Glenn L. Bickel (activities), Jerome R. Weiss (archives), Alan Rowan (audit), Robert Wollin (blue ribbon panel study), Patrick Collins (by-laws), Mathew Tombers (cable), Hank Rieger (farsight, past presidents council), Michael Gallant (educational programs), Susan Simons (daytime awards/show), Robert King (Emmy magazine), Jim Smith (engineering awards), Murray Weissman (film group).

Also, Charles W. Fries (forum luncheons), Meryl C. Marshall (Governors Award nominating), Howard Smit (guild/union liaison, parliamentarian), Stu Berg (institutional spot), Tom Thompson (L.A.-area awards), Janet Mac-Lachlan (membership), George Sunga (national awards), Richard Frank (network negotiating), Curt Belhmer (theater inspection), Cliff Dektar and Don DeMesquita (public relations).

Jan Scott, Edgar J. Scherick and George Sunga will chair the Hall of Fame sculptures, selection and show, respectively. Sandra Bettin is overall chair of repertory groups, with Cynthia Lea Clark (performers), Irene Nachreiner (writers), Conrad G. Bachmann (development) and Bettin (directors) heading particular areas.
