ABC is withdrawing its TV network membership from the National Assn. of Broadcasters effective Jan. 1.
A NAB staffer said no reason was given for the decision and ABC officials could not be reached for comment.
However, ABC executives expressed displeasure with the NAB TV board’s strong stand earlier this year against relaxing Federal Communications Commission network/cable cross-ownership rules.
ABC’s owned-and-operated stations, radio stations and radio networks will remain dues-paying NAB members.
The NAB staffer refused to disclose how much the web withdrawal will cost the trade org, except to say that it is “not very much in an $ 18 million budget.”
