Exhibition veteran Thomas P. Elefante has been installed as senior VP for Warner Bros. Intl. Theaters Co.
In his new post, Elefante, who most recently served as executive VP and general manager for Loews Theater Management Corp., will oversee theater operations for the international exhibition company.
He will be based at WBIT’s New York headquarters and will report directly to prexy Salah M. Hassanein.
Bringing to the job a diverse background and knowledge of multi-unit operational management, Elefante will help plan the construction of multiplex cinemas in the United Kingdom, Australia, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Japan, Portugal, Spain and Italy.
Elefante’s previous work at Loews and Wometco Enterprises in various capacities spans a 30-year tenure in the motion picture exhibition industry.
Over the past three years, WB has opened multiplex theaters in England, Denmark, Germany and Portugal.
The company expects that by the end of this year it will have more than 150 screens in these countries and several other multiplexes proposed in the rest of the world, including six in Japan.
