Thomas H. Cannan Jr.

Thomas H. Cannan Jr., senior administrator of production services for the Screen Actors Guild, died of cancer Nov. 29 at his home in Westlake Village. He was 58.

Born in Los Angeles, Cannan began his industry career as a film and TV extra.

He later wrote TV scripts with a partner for such shows as “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,””Batman” and “The Streets of San Francisco.”

In 1983, he went to work for the Screen Extras Guild, working as a field rep.

He moved over to SAG in 1986 and organized a new production services department for the union.

In 1990, he was named senior administrator of production services, overseeing all on-set problems.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Ryan; mother, Camille; two brothers and a sister.

A graveside service will be held Friday at Pierce Brothers Valhalla, 10621 Victory Blvd., North Hollywood. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Conejo in Thousand Oaks.
