Theodore Thomas

HARTFORD, Conn. — Theodore Thomas, a musician whose band backed up such Motown acts as Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight, died Nov. 7 at 84.

Thomas, lead saxophonist for the Downbeats, also played with such greats as Lionel Hampton and Jelly Roll Morton.
