Tom Rogers, president of NBC Cable & Business Development, has been awarded executive VP stripes at NBC, giving him a broader role at the network.
NBC president and CEO Robert C. Wright said Rogers’ new duties would include helping steer a course for NBC’s core activities,looking for growth potential and continuing to broaden NBC’s business base.
Rogers– who has overseen the development of such NBC ventures as CNBC and last summer’s Olympic Triplecast–will continue to focus on the cable sector of the business, including new ventures and international opportunities.
Under Rogers’ leadership, NBC entered into a partnership with Cablevision Systems Corp.’s Rainbow Programming division, which gives the network a stake in SportsChannel America, American Movie Classics, Bravo and eight regional sports networks.
The division also has stakes in cable’s Courtroom Television Network and Arts & Entertainment.
Moreover, NBC Cable is a partner in the Interactive Network, the Private Financial Network and NBC On-Site, which provides on-screen advertising in supermarkets.
Rogers joined NBC in 1987 as VP of policy planning and business development.
