MGM taps Mayer general counsel

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has named Patricia Mayer general counsel of its entertainment business group and promoted Amy Rosen to VP of MGM licensing and merchandising.

Mayer, who was formerly an associate counsel in the company’s legal department from 1989 to 1990, just rejoined the studio.

Before joining the San Francisco law firm of Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro, she clerked for a federal judge after graduating from UCLA Law School and completing post graduate work at Cambridge U. in England.

As for Rosen, she will continue to report to Susan Notarides, MGM senior VP of licensing and merchandising.

She joined MGM in 1989 when she managed the licensing and merchandising of the “Mother Goose and Grimm” property. She is currently handling MGM’s “Pink Panther” series and a number of other television and theatrical releases.
