Joel Rose, former longtime Paramount publicist, died September 13 at the age of 77.

A member of the Publicists Guild, Rose began his career in New York as a Broadway press agent and later represented such stars as Jackie Gleason, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson, Steve Allen and Count Basie, among others.

Before retiring in 1990, he was the head planter for Hanson & Schwam Public Relations for 10 years.

Rose issurvived by his brother, TV producer and writer, Sy Rose.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Stroke Foundation.
