Ann Straus, veteran MGM publicity executive and former fashion editor for the studio, died Monday evening at her home. She was 82.

She worked for former studio publicity exec Howard Strickling for 15 years, handling campaigns for such stars as Cyd Charisse, Angela Lansbury, Deborah Kerr , Debbie Reynolds, Greer Garson, Ann Miller, Janet Leigh and Kathryn Grayson.

Straus was also active in the Hollywood Women’s Press Club and the Publicists Guild. She was also involved in the United Way, the UCLA Arts Council, the Naval Aid Auxiliary and The Thalians.

The Blind Children’s Assn. named her woman of the year on her 80th birthday for volunteer work on the organization’s behalf.

Born in Chicago, Straus graduated from Miss Faulkner’s School and studied at the U. of Chicago. She is survived by two nieces, Julie Siff and Kathie Cummings.

A memorial mass is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Augustine’s Church in Culver City. Reception will follow at her Wilshire Boulevard condominium. Any contributions in her name should be made to the Blind Children’s Assn.
