Alan Howard Balsam

Services were held Nov. 15 for film editor Alan Howard Balsam, 42, who died Nov. 13 in Los Angeles of complications from AIDS.

Balsam’s early credits include numerous shorts and promotional films with Bette Midler, Jonathan Winters, George Harrison and Elvis Presley.

He also edited the AFI tribute to Bette Davis and “Heroes of Rock ‘n’ Roll, ” both television specials.

His film credits include “Divine Madness,””Revenge of the Nerds,””Dead and Buried,””Better Off Dead,””Moving,””To Be or Not to Be,””One Crazy Summer” and the English version of “Das Boot.”

His companion was Stephen Schneider. He is survived by his parents Anita and Michael Balsam, a grandmother and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the Alan H. Balsam Memorial Fund.
