The Los Angeles Music Center will bring the Kirov Ballet in for the Christmas season, filling the spot left vacated by the financially beleaguered Joffrey Ballet.
The Kirov will present “The Nutcracker” for 14 performances, Dec. 22-Jan. 3. It also will perform the holiday classic at the Orange County Performing Arts Center Dec. 1-6.
“The Nutcracker” was originally created for the Kirov in 1892. This U.S. run marks the first time the company has performed it in America.
The run is being presented at the Music Center by James A. Doolittle, general director of the Southern California Theatre Assn., with the support of the Music Center and Mr. & Mrs. David H. Murdock.
