Furlong moves into ‘Home’ with Bates

Edward Furlong is the latest in a batch of casting additions to A&M Films’ “A Home of Our Own.”

The film, which stars Kathy Bates, centers around an underprivileged single mom and her six children who hitch their hopes for survival on living in a small town and buying their own home (Daily Variety, Sept. 8).

Furlong, 15, made his film debut opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” and also appeared in “Pet Sematary 2.” He also stars in Martin Bell’s “American Heart” with Jeff Bridges.

In addition to Bates, who plays the mom, and Furlong, who plays her son Shayne, others added to the cast include Amy Sakasitz (set to play Margaret in John Hughes’ “Dennis the Menace”) and Soon-Teck Oh.

Shayne’s four other siblings have yet to be cast. Pic is tentatively scheduled for a summer or fall ’93 release.
