The Eddie Murphy comedy “Boomerang” received a leading four nominations yesterday for the NAACP’s 25th annual Image Awards.
The awards, to be presented Jan. 16 in Pasadena in 27 categories, are given to individuals and organizations who present positive images of African-Americans. The NAACP said it received a record 645 submissions for Image Awards in television, film, recording and literature categories.
“Boomerang” was nominated for outstanding motion picture, Murphy for best actor in a motion picture and Halle Berry and Robin Givens for best movie actresses.
The other nominees for best picture were “Daughters of the Dust,””Grand Canyon,””Mississippi Masala” and “Sister Act.”
