Tamm, Deyhle start consultancy

An A-list of German media heavyweights, mostly connected at some point to the powerful Axel-Springer Verlag, have launched a new consultancy group dubbed GME, based in Hamburg.

The idea was hatched by Peter Tamm, Springer’s former board chairman, together with Rolf Deyhle, half of Scriba & Deyhle, the production, distribution , exhibition and sales firm.

Deyhle also has real estate and legit theater interests in Germany.

In addition to a major role in Germany publishing, Springer has major broadcast interests in Germany, including a 20% share in private web SAT 1.

GME will concern itself primarily with print media, and also will advise both domestic and foreign clients in broadcast media.

GME’s strategy is that individual teams of advisers tailored to a client’s needs will develop plans for problems ranging from personnel to mergers and acquisitions.

Other members of GME’s core of founders are: editor Ulrich Bader; showbiz attorney Peter Hertel; former Springer board members Erhard van Straaten and Wolfgang Muller (the latter will specialize in new media); ad expert Erhard Stahl; and Hans-Hermann Tiedje, former editor of Germany’s mass-market Bild Zeitung.

Muller and van Straaten will head the company. Uschi Prinke, who aided in developing several German radio stations, will coordinate operations.
