Steve Fargnoli, former manager of Prince, yesterday announced plans to open a Los Angeles office for his U.K.-based PURE management.
Robert Richards, a 15-year artist management veteran, was appointed president and will head the local operation.
CEO Fargnoli will commute between London and Los Angeles.
Richards will be a partner in the American operation and will bring three of his clients to PURE from his own Robert Richards Management: MCA act Wire Train and A&M artists Sheryl Crow and David Baerwald.
PURE’s clients include Sinead O’Connor, World Party and Maria McKee.
Fargnoli was purged three years ago from the Prince camp along with fellow management team players Bob Cavallo and Joseph Ruffalo, financial consultant Fred Moultrie and attorney Lee Phillips (Daily Variety, Jan. 6, 1989).
Prince later agreed to pay an undisclosed sum for filing a suit claiming fraud, conspiracy and legal malpractice against Phillips; no information on the disposition of the suit against Fargnoli and the others was available at press time.
In addition to his management company, Richards has been a consultant to Radio Vision Intl. He was formerly an associate producer for ABC-TV’s “In Concert” and worked at Lookout Management.
