AMC refines western ops

AMC Theatres announced yesterday three promotions and a series of consolidations affecting the circuit’s operations in California, Washington, Arizona and Colorado.

Southern California district supervisor Nora Dashwood has been promoted to the post of assistant division operations manager.

Dashwood replaces Mark McDonald, who has been tapped as veepee of finance for AMC Theatres’ corporate arm in Kansas City.

In her new role, Dashwood will work with AMC veepee of West Coast operations Greg Rutkowski in overseeing 58 theaters and 399 screens in the four western states–roughly 25% of AMC’s nationwide total number of screens.

In other moves, James Erdman was promoted to regional director of California, bumping him up from a district supervisor’s slot overseeing Northern California and Washington.

Erdman will be in charge of the Southern California and Northern California districts, which have been consolidated under a single corporate umbrella.

Responsibility for the state of Washington has been placed under the aegis of Brian Scheid.

A 13-year veteran, Scheid is currently president of the Arizona Theatres Owner’s Assn.

AMC veepee Rutkowski said in a statement that the three executives have contributed to the company’s growth over the past decade, exhibiting “excellence in both customer service and presentation.”
