Stern Gets ‘Cafe’ Companion

WWOR-TV has begun production on “Spotlight Cafe,” four half-hour installments of standup comedy, set in a downtown Gotham club.

The station is developing the show as a companion piece to its successful “The Howard Stern Show.” “Spotlight” is hosted by Stern’s comedic sidekick and writer, Jackie Martling, and airs at midnight following Stern’s hourlong show.

There is no commitment for additional episodes, although this was the same pattern WWOR used to launch “Stern,” which started as a summer series and has been extended twice.
