Shock Jock Down A Notch In Arbitron Radio Ratings

Arbitron’s fall radio ratings showed WYSP-FM’s simulcast-from-New York – The Howard Stern Show – down 2.3 share points to an 8.5 tie with WMMR-FM’s John DeBella. Stern was the reigning morning jock in the previous three books, and DeBella the ratings king he ousted.

However, all-news KYW-AM, at 14.1, continues to dominate from 6 to 10 a.m. Overall, KYW registered a first-place 8.8,1.2 more than album rock WMMR-FM, which topped KYW, 7.5 to 6.6, a year earlier and was in a 7.9 tie with KYW in the summer book.

The biggest loser was CBS o&o WOGL-AM (formerly WCAU-AM), which switched from talk to rock and since spring has dropped from 3.7 to a 20th-place 0.6.
