Program Directors Get Eighty-Sixed

Recent policy shift at WDAF-TV eliminated the position of program director and pinkslipped Ed Fulginiti, who had been with the station for four years. The move is part of a companywide policy, according to Earl Beall, WDAF v.p. and general manager, which eliminated the position of program director at all of its tv stations (WKRC-TV Cincinnati, WBRC-TV Birmingham, KTSP-TV Phoenix and WTSD-TV Tampa) as well as at WDAF.

The policy was instituted as a belt-tightening move, according to Beall. Duties formerly handled by Fulginiti have been divvied up among other station execs.

Also at WDAF, new weekend news co-anchor is Karen Church, in from KCNO-TV Charlotte, N.C. Church’s addition marks another switch in policy and is indicative of the station’s push to improve news ratings.
