Paramount’s “The Maury Povich Show” sprung back into first place among new firstrun syndicated strips during the week ending Oct. 27, posting a 3.7 Nielsen average. That moves it within striking distance (0.2 points) of Tribune’s established talk show, “Geraldo.”

Tribune’s “Now It Can Be Told,” which occupied the top newcomer’s spot the previous two weeks, inched up 0.2 points to a 3.6. King World’s “Candid Camera” halted its downward slide, rebounding to a 2.9 rating, but is still about 25% below its premiere week average of 3.8.

Among weeklies, MTM’s “WKRP in Cincinnati” returned from a three-week data reprocessing hiatus with an impressive 7.2 rating. Cannell Distribution’s “Street Justice” edged up enough to tie LBS’s “Baywatch,” with both the action-adventure hours averaging a 4.1.
