Major D.C. MSOs Go For all-News

Three major cable systems here have agreed to carry a round-the-clock cable news channel being launched by Allbritton Communications Co. in the D.C. area this spring.

Jones Intercable of Alexandria, Va., Warner Cable of Reston, Va., and District Cablevision of Washington., D.C. – which is owned in part by cable industry giant TCI – signed on to carry the channel for 10 years. The commitment, which comes on the heels of similar commitments given by other local cable operators, means the news channel will have 100% penetration in the D.C. market.

ALLNEWSCO is the Allbritton subsidiary set up to run the channel.
