Glittering Prizes

Cox-owned WPXI-TV, an NBC affil, has won five Associated Press news awards, including one for best regularly scheduled newscast in a major market in Pennsylvania.

The station also got awards for the best feature, best public affairs story, as well as the Joe Snyder Award for outstanding news service. It also took second place for photography.

Hearst’s WTAE-TV took first place for spot news, second for enterprise-individual reporting and third place in features, public affairs and photography. Group W’s KDKA-TV took third place in spot news and second in sports.

The awards will be presented June 1 at a Williamsport banquet.
