Executive Shuffle

Walt Disney Studios named LAWRENCE R. RUTKOWSKI v.p. and controller. He succeeds DAVID HENDLER, now finance v.p. for Buena Vista Home Video. Rutkowski was finance v.p. for Walt Disney Television.

The Zanuck Co. has upped three key execs after a year of heightened development activity, post – “Driving Miss Daisy.” PHYLLIS SKOLNIK, currently executive in charge of development, has been elevated to v.p. creative affairs, east coast. LARAINE MESTMAN makes a similar move up on the west coast. MARLENE ADELSTEIN, who has been with the company since 1988, becomes director of development, east coast.

ROGER ARMSTRONG, v.p. of national publicity for Universal Pictures since last July, is ankling the post, effective immediately. His contract, which was to run through April 1992, was settled by “mutual agreement” last week. Sally Van Slyke, senior U v.p. of marketing/national pub-promo, said no decision on a replacement has been made.

Independent Television Service chairman LAWRENCE M. SAPADIN, known for his activities on behalf of indie film and video businesses, has joined Fox Lorber Associates, New York, as v.p. of acquisitions.

DANA LAUFER has been promoted to manager of publicity at New Line Cinema. She’s worked at the indie’s New York h.q. for four years.

TERRY PRESS has been elevated to v.p., publicity, for Buena Vista Pictures. He joined Disney in 1987 and since December 1989 was national publicity director of Hollywood Pictures.

JORDAN BAYER has decided not to seek renewal of his contract as director of production at Columbia Pictures. The pact would have expired in March.

HOME VIDEO

Media Home Entertainment has promoted three in finance. TOM COMPTON was upped to v.p. of finance/controller from director of financial planning and analysis. AUDREY STEVENSON was promoted to assistant controller from senior staff accountant. ANDREA MERCURIO was promoted to royalties manager from royalties accountant. RICHARD MARKS has joined MHE as senior v.p. of business and legal affairs. He was formerly counsel to the motion picture division of Walt Disney and Touchstone Pictures.

DAVID HENDLER has been named v.p. of finance and administration for Buena Vista worldwide homevideo and pay-tv. He transfers from Walt Disney Pictures and Television, where he was v.p./controller for the last two years.

Warner Home Video has named MARSHA K. KING v.p. of business affairs and general counsel worldwide.
