CBS Decides Not To Pass On ‘Buck’

Universal TV’s “Uncle Buck” will return to CBS’ primetime schedule Jan. 26, replacing MTM TV’s “You Take The Kids” when that sitcom finishes its limited six-episode run on the network.

CBS said it will announce future plans for “Kids,” which stars Nell Carter, after meeting with the producers of the show. The series has averaged a slim 7.0 rating, 13 share in Nielsen, holding down the difficult 8 p.m. Saturday slot.

“Buck” returns after being moved from Monday at 8 – where it was a reasonably solid performer – to Friday to make room for “Evening Shade,” resulting in a disastrous ratings decline. CBS announced a full-season pickup on the show prior to that scheduling shift.
