Bravo is planning to create a production fund and a weekly showcase for independent films. The fund, reports Bravo prexy Joshua Sapan, will be used in any one of three ways: as seed money, to complete production, or to be used as part of a co-production package. The fund should be up and running in six or eight months.
Bravo will offer a regular weekly timeslot for the presentation of indie films, turned out by American and international filmmakers, not necessarily in the English language. In June, Bravo has scheduled “The Independents Film Festival,” featuring five indie-produced films, including “Salaam Bombay!” directed by Mira Nair, and Peter Bogdanovich’s first effort, “Targets.”
