President Bush has appointed a panel, the Task Force on U.S. Government Intl. Broadcasting, charged with recommending ways to improve operations at Voice of America, Radio and TV Marti and Radio Free Europe.

Former U.S. Information Agency topper John Hughes chairs. Other board members include: Peggy Noonan, a former Reagan speechwriter; Stuart Eizenstat, President Carter’s domestic policy adviser; David Abshire, head of the Center for Strategic and Intl. Studies; Richard Allen, Reagan’s former national security adviser; and syndicated columnist Ben Wattenberg.
