TEX JACKSON

John W. (Tex) Jackson, 77, former president of Motion Picture Studio Grips, Local 80, Intl. Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, died Feb. 3 in Los Angeles of emphysema.

Jackson was a freelance studio grip from 1936 until his retirement in 1976 and had been president of the local from 1959-61. He owned Castex Rentals, a Hollywood studio equipment house, which is now being run by his son, Bill.

Also survived by his wife, Marie, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
