ROY LANHAM

Roy Lanham, 68, comedian and musician whose voice and guitar playing can be heard on the Roy Rogers & Dale Evans hit “Happy Trails To You,” died Feb. 14 in Camarillo, Calif., of cancer.

Lanham joined Rogers’ band Sons of the Pioneers as a comedian and second lead guitarist in the 1950s.

He toured with Rogers as a member of the band the Whippoorwills and arranged the group’s music. He also appeared in some of Rogers’ tv shows.

As a guitarist, Lanham also played jazz and pop music, recording “Mr. Blue” and “Come Softly To Me” with the Fleetwoods in the late 1950s.

Survived by a son, two daughters and three grandchildren.
