Marc Gibson

Marc Gibson, 51, weekend sports anchor and reporter on. KGO-TV San Francisco, died April 30 in that city of an apparent heart attack after a workout.

Gibson joined the station as a reporter in 1982 and added weekend sports duties in 1985. He was also a professional musician and actor who had appeared in Off Broadway productions and recorded a jazz album in Paris Gibson also played baseball for two years in the Cleveland Indians farm system.

Born in Kansas City, Mo., Gibson earned a master’s degree in political science from New York U. and was White House correspondent for Sheridan Broadcasting Network during the first two years of the Reagan administration.

He formerly was a freelance correspondent for Public Broadcasting System, weekend reporter for Independent Network News and anchor-reporter for WBAP Fort Worth.

Survived by his wife, Rose, and four children.
