Jason Christmas, 49, a host at the Comic Strip and an actor, died Jan. 11 in New York of a gunshot wound. He was killed outside the comedy club during a robbery.

Born Joseph Janovcsik, he performed as an actor Off Off Broadway at the 18th Street Playhouse, New Jersey Playhouse and Dramatis Personae Theater. Christmas also had small roles in videos and in the films “Fat Chance” and “Angel Heart.” He was featured in a film on comedy improvisation called “That’s Adequate.”

Survived by his mother, Ilona, and his brother, Bill.
