Toronto’s VTR Prod’n House Shutting Down

VTR Prods. Ltd., one of North America’s oldest tv and video postproduction companies, is ceasing operations at the end of this month. Recent postproduction credits for the 31-year-old company include “Kids In The Hall,” NBC’s “The Jim Henson Hour” and “The Rolling Stones Steel Wheels Tour.”

VTR president Dan McLellan says the closure was brought about by several factors, including the loss of a lucrative contract from the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

Other factors contributing to VTR’s demise, per McLellan, are the high cost of doing business in Toronto, less Hollywood business and an increasingly competitive environment in Toronto.
