Sky News Shopping For U.S. Partners

British Sky Broadcasting is scouting for joint venture partners for its 24-hour Sky News operation, and a BSkyB spokesman confirmed that the company is hunting U.S. news partners.

CBS, CNN, ABC-owned WTN and Time Warner are among potential partners being courted, a BSkyB source said.

The direct-to-home venture’s operating losses are estimated at $60 million this year. Sky News recently fired 15% of its staff in an effort to save money.
