King Broadcasting Co. said it has reached a definitive agreement to sell its tv and cable tv operations to a joint venture formed by Providence Journal Co. and the investment firm of Kelso & Co. Inc.

The sale involves six tv stations and 13 cable systems with more than 215,000 subscribers. Terms were not revealed.
